Tiananmen Square, located on East Chang'anAvenue in Dongcheng District, Beijing, has undergone multiple modifications andchanges, ultimately forming a large square with a length of 880 meters fromnorth to south and a width of 500 meters from east to west, covering an area of440000 square meters. It is the largest urban square in the world. TiananmenSquare has a central axis and symmetrical wings, capable of accommodating agrand gathering of one million people. In the square, along the central axis ofBeijing from north to south, stand the national flag pole, the Monument to thePeople's Heroes, the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, and the Zhengyangmen City Tower.

Since October 1, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedongsolemnly declared to the world on the Tiananmen Gate Tower: "The CentralPeople's Government of the People's Republic of China is establishedtoday!" Tiananmen has since become a symbol of the People's Republic ofChina. Tiananmen Square records the indomitable revolutionary spirit andfearless heroic spirit of the Chinese people. The May 4th Movement, theDecember 9th Movement and the May 20 Movement all left a strong color in themodern revolutionary history of China, and witnessed a struggle of the Chinesepeople against foreign aggression and reactionary rule for secondary democracyand freedom. Tiananmen Square is also a sacred place for the Republic to holdmajor celebrations, grand gatherings and foreign affairs welcome. The congressto celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, the 35th, 50th,60th and 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China andthe 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistanceagainst Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War were held here. 

The tourism volume of Tiananmen Square isrelatively high all year round, and the people love to watch the flag raisingceremony at Tiananmen Square. Among them, more than 300000 people came to watchthe flag raising ceremony during the National Day holiday in 2023. In 1986,Tiananmen Square was named one of the "Sixteen Scenic Spots ofBeijing" with the scenic name "Tian'an Liri".
